Script Pipeline Screenwriting Contest – Deadline: 1 March 2017 (regular) / 1 May 2017 (final).  Feature length screenplays.

Script Pipeline TV Writing Contest – Deadline:  1 March 2017 (regular) / 1 May 2017 (final).  Any length script, pilot of original or spec of existing show.

London Independent Film Festival Screenplay Contest – Deadline: 3 March 2017 (final).  Short & feature length scripts.

The Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting:  Deadline: 7 March 2017 (early) / 10 April 2017 (regular) / 1 May 2017 (final). Screenplays 90-120pp.

Scriptapalooza –  Deadline: 10 March 2017 (late) / 17 April 2017 (extended) / 1 May 2017 (final). Screenplays 80-140pp.

Guiding Lights – Deadline: 13 March 2017 (final). High-level mentoring programme for emerging writers, producers and directors. UK only.

Big Break Screenwriting Contest– Deadline: 13 March 2017 (early) / 26 June 2017 (regular) / 14 July 2017 (final). Teleplays 25-70pp / Screenplays 80-120pp.

Screamfest Horror Film Festival Screenplay Contest – Deadline: 15 March 2017 (regular) / 2 June 2017 (late) / 15 June 2017 (final).  Feature screenplays 75-130pp in Horror genre.

The PAGE International Screenwriting Awards – Deadline: 17 March 2017 (late) / 17 April 2017 (final). Short scripts up to 40pp, feature screenplays 80-120pp, TV drama pilots 50-70pp, TV comedy pilots 25-45pp. 

European Independent Film Festival Script Competition – Deadline: 19 March 2017 (final). Short scripts 5-50pp & feature length scripts 80-130pp. Looking for scripts NOT aimed at mainstream Hollywood film markets.

The Writers Lab NYC – Deadline 23 March 2017 (regular) / 30 March 2017 (final). Seeking submissions from women over 40.

Austin Film Festival Screenplay & Teleplay Competition – Deadline: 31 March 2017 (early) / 20 April 2017 (regular) / 15 May 2017 (final).  Feature scripts 90-120pp, teleplays (original pilot or spec of existing show) 45-70pp, sitcom scripts 22-40pp.

Cinestory Foundation Feature Retreat Contest – Deadline: 5 April 2017 (final).  Screenplay 85-130pages.

Screencraft Horror Screenplay Contest – Deadline: 15 April 2017 (early) / 1 July 2017 (final).  Screenplays up to 140pp. Opens for submissions 17 March 2017,

Finish Line Script Competition – Deadline: 28 April 2017 (regular) / 13 June 2017 (final).

Sitcom Mission – Deadline: 30 April 2017 (final). Submit 15 minute sitcom script for tv, radio or stage.

Access Screenplay Contest – Deadline: 30 April 2017 (regular) / 31 May 2017 (final).

Edinburgh International Film Festival Talent Lab – Deadline: 1 May 2017 (final). Open to screenwriters, producers & directors. Feature films only.

Shore Scripts Screenplay Competition – Deadline: 31 May 2017 (early) / 31 July 2017 (regular) / 31 August 2017 (final)  – Feature screenplays 80-120pp, tv pilots 15-70pp, short screenplays 3-20pp.

Warner Brothers Writers’ Workshop – Deadline: 31 May 2017 (final). Spec script of selected existing shows. Must be available to attend workshops in Los Angeles. Opens for applications 1 May 2017.


BBC Writersroom Comedy Script Call – Deadline: usually April. UK residents only.

Disney/ABC Writing Fellowship – Deadline: Usually May. Applicants must be able to prove US employment eligibility.

New York TV Festival Comedy Script Competition – Deadline: usually June.

Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award – Deadline: usually July. Submit 30-60 minute television drama script. Applicants must be under 30 and non-US residents. Opens for submissions mid-April 2017.

Screencraft Pilot Launch TV Script Contest – Deadline: usually August.

Berlinale Talent Campus – Deadline: usually September.

Tracking Board Launch Pad Features Contest – Deadline: usually September.

American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest – Deadline: usually September.  Screenplays 82-145pp.

4Screenwriting – Deadline: usually September. Accepting screenplays (film or tv), stage plays and radio plays. Open to residents of UK and Ireland. Applicants must be available to attend the course in London on specified dates. 

C21 Drama Series Script Competition – Deadline: usually October. Pilot script (max 60pp) and supporting document. Finalists receive high-level mentoring. Winning writer receives $10,000 and the script will go into development with eOne Television. 

Screencraft Action & Thriller Screenplay Contest – Deadline: usually October. Screenplays up to 140pp.

Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition – Deadline: usually October. Accepting feature scripts up to 130pp, tv scripts up to 75pp, short film scripts up to 25pp.

Cinequest Screenwriting Competition  – Deadline: usually November.

Blue Cat Screenplay Competition – Deadline: usually November.

Screencraft Family Screenplay Contest – Deadline: usually December.

Seattle International Film Festival Screenplay Contest – Deadline: usually January.

Nashville Film Festival Screenwriting Contest – Deadline: usually January.  Screenplays 80-120pp, short script under 40pp, half-hour tv comedy script 22-35pp, one-hour tv drama 45-65pp.

Hamptons International Film Festival Screenwriters’ Lab – Deadline: usually January. Feature length screenplays only.

Screencraft Screenwriting Fellowship – Deadline: usually January.

Sundance Screenwriters’ Lab – Deadline: usually January. Feature length screenplays. U.S residents only.

The Tracking Board Launch Pad Pilots Contest – Deadline: usually February.
