Script Angel continues to build its screenwriter coaching team with the addition of experienced script editor James Gillam-Smith.
Gillam-Smith joins Script Angel from BBC Drama Studios where he was most recently script editor on primetime BBC1 crime drama series Silent Witness. He has over ten years experience as a professional script editor, spanning a range of television drama and comedy shows. Other script editing credits include flagship BBC1 drama series EastEnders and Holby City. He also script edited Missing (Leopard Drama for BBC1) and Joe Ahearne’s supernatural horror drama Apparitions (Lime Pictures for BBC1).
As well as extensive script development experience in drama, Gillam-Smith has also worked on a range of comedy series including Ruth Jones’s Stella (Tidy Productions for Sky One) and for Big Talk Productions on acclaimed BBC2 series Rev (starring Tom Hollander and Olivia Colman), The Job Lot (ITV) and Youngers (E4).

Gillam-Smith has also been a judge for the Screenwriting Goldmine Awards, reading works by a huge range of new and emerging writing talent. While script editing on BBC1’s Holby City, he was also responsible for running their New Writing Scheme, discovering and developing the next generation of the show’s writers.

Script Angel is expected to announce a further addition to their coaching team in the coming months, as well as increasing their back-office team to enable them to support more screenwriters looking for help to develop their skills and career.
