We were delighted to work with Channel 4 and 4Skills to help design and deliver part of their New Writers Scheme 2024-25.

Our CEO/Founder Hayley McKenzie worked with the group of twenty talented writers drawn from across the UK to help them better understand how to build a successful screenwriting career (including securing representation) and what the next steps look like once your work is optioned or commissioned by a production company.

We spent a great two days together (thanks C4 Glasgow for your hospitality!) and were joined by the fabulous Claire Armspach (Head of Drama Development at STV) and agents Rupert Stonehill (Independent Talent) and Michael Eliot-Finch (Brennan Artists) who were all incredibly generous with their time and insights.

It was a privilege to watch these brilliant writers rise to the challenge of talking about (aka pitching!) their projects to our guest speakers.

They all had distinctive voices and unique perspectives which our industry desperately needs to be putting on screen to better reflect our audience.

Their passion for the characters and worlds they want to put on screen was evident, and they all had something unique to say. I’m thrilled that Channel 4 is supporting them to develop their original stories and equipping them with the tools and knowledge to navigate the industry, and giving them the support they need to develop their creative confidence.

We can’t wait to see what they do next….

And thanks also to the scheme partners Screen Scotland, British Film Institute (BFI) Network, Film Hub North and Film Hub South West
